New National Member for Portugal at Eurojust takes up duties

Mr José Luis Ferreira Trindade has been appointed Eurojust National Member for Portugal as of 8 November 2023. He replaces Mr António Cluny who has been the National Member since 2014. Mr Ferreira Trindade has been serving as Deputy National Member for Portugal since September 2020. Prior to that, he started working at Eurojust in July 2016 as Assistant to the National Member.

Commenting on his new role as National Member, Mr Ferreira Trindade said: I am honoured to be appointed as National Member for Portugal at Eurojust. During the seven years that I have been part of the Eurojust family, I have seen the Agency play an increasingly important role in combating cross-border crime. In my new role as National Member, I look forward to continue working closely with all the other Member States to make Europe a safer place for everyone.

Mr Ferreira Trindade has worked as a Public Prosecutor since 1990 at different levels of the Public Prosecution Service in Portugal. In 2005, he starting working as Chief Prosecutor of a special unit, based in Coimbra, devoted to the investigations for organised economic and financial crime.

Mr Ferreira Trindade has been involved in international cooperation matters as a Contact Point for the European Judicial Network (EJN).
